Dubai-UAE: 15 April, 2015

The Aviation District of Dubai World Central (DWC) is showcasing its world-class offering at the 20th MRO Americas Conference & Exhibition taking place from April 14-16 at Miami, Florida, USA.

The annual event, organized by Penton's Aviation Week, explores the future of aviation and defense maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) through a series of drill-down discussions and networking opportunities. Over 10,000 industry professionals and government representatives are expected to be in attendance. The event features the industry's largest exhibition floor, which showcases more than 700 solution providers to communicate actionable solutions, build contacts and exchange ideas.

Referring to DWC's participation in the event, Tahnoon Saif, Vice President, DWC's Aviation District, said: "Our presence at the conference and exhibition is in line with DWC's strategy to promote its role as facilitators of the aviation and aerospace sectors. Towards this end, we are showcasing the value proposition of the state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities available at DWC's Aviation District. We are also revealing plans for exciting new developments within the district that will impact global and regional aviation."

The DWC Aviation District is a 6.7 square kilometer master planned district and adjacent to Al Maktoum International Airport. It offers ready-to-build world-class aviation infrastructure as part of Dubai's strategic vision for the aviation sector. Beyond its aviation focus, the district will also offer well-defined zones for sectors such as hospitality, education, research and development, and mixed-used development.

In 2014, the district announced several key milestones including the ground breaking of the region's first-of-a-kind completion center, which is to be operated by Falcon Aviation. The US$80 million facility, construction of which has begun this year, is planned over a 24,178 square meter area. The facility will provide enhanced and customized services to VIP customers and also feature a modern hangar with the capacity to accommodate an Airbus A380.

In the same year, an agreement was signed with the France-based STTS Group - a major player specializing in aircraft painting - to build a multi-purpose facility to service various aircraft.

Another key feature of the Aviation District is its Executive Jet Terminal, which is designed to cater exclusively to business aviation. The sophisticated 6,000 square meter facility is scheduled for completion in Q4 of 2015 and will host four fixed-base operators (FBOs).

The MRO sector associated with the aviation industry offers a wide spectrum of support services related but not limited to the maintenance of the landing gear, avionics, hydraulics and braking systems, as well as specialized functions such as aircraft painting, plumbing, seat and upholstery, non-destructive testing and plastics repair.
