Starting from one hospital in 1854, Dignity Health is a California-based not-for-profit public-benefit corporation that operates 139 hospitals and ancillary care facilities in California, Arizona and Nevada as well as international projects in Europe, China and the Middle East.

Dignity has yearly operating revenues of ~$30 billion, with over 160,000 employees including 25,000+ physicians.

KLSC is currently working with Dignity to develop a one-stop-shop management and training solution for the Kuwaiti Healthcare market which is embarking on a major expansion to both its public and private healthcare systems as around five government entities are developing 13 large scale mega healthcare projects in Kuwait that would add more than 7,000 beds to the Kuwaiti healthcare system including the recently inaugurated New Jahra Hospital and Jaber Hospital which are both slated to add 1,200 and 1,168 beds respectively.

As the current healthcare spending portion of the Kuwaiti government budget for 2018-19 fiscal is close to 17 bn KD, and the budget of the Ministry of Health is over 2 bn KD – the focus of the KLSC initiative is one of boosting cost savings by increasing managerial efficiency. It is important to note that these numbers do not consider the spending by the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, and the Kuwait Oil Company which contributes significantly to the healthcare spending of the country.

The delegation included Ms. Barbara Ralston, Mr. Jim Banahan and Ms. Anita Gotcher from Dignity Health International and parent group, Common Spirit. Dr. Razouki had the pleasure of visiting both the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center (MAPC) and the Barrow's Spine Center.
