Abu Dhabi City Municipality :

HE Saif Badr Al Qubaisi, General Manager of Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM); and Ali Mohammed Sadiq Al Baluchi, Chairman of Ghantoot Transport and General Contracting LLC, have signed a partnership agreement providing for the construction of Bazar Al Mafraq at Al Mafraq Industrial Area.

The Project is part of the social responsibility initiatives of the private sector to contribute to the development of Abu Dhabi City. It will also provide public facilities befitting the profile of Abu Dhabi as a civilised metropolis with integrated services,” said Al Qubaisi.  

“The signing of this agreement with Ghantoot Company is an integral part of a series of agreements signed with the private sector. It echoes the direction of our government calling for boosting the role of the private sector in supporting sustainable development and contributing to a happy life for all community members. Such objectives are met by building modern service and entertainment amenities reflecting the image of Abu Dhabi and its advanced global ranking as the best place for living, happiness and practising business.

“The Municipality is keen on cooperating with mega national companies with the aim of promoting the values and principles of social responsibility. The initiative of Ghantoot Company in this regard illustrates its commitment to supporting the social responsibility initiatives through delivering projects capable of driving the quality of living in Abu Dhabi city and suburbs.

The prime objective of constructing the Bazar at Al Mafraq, following the success of Musaffah Bazar, is to curb street hawkers and rid the community of the negative and health impacts of unlicensed vendors. The market contributes to eliminating the phenomenon in the area. It opens the door wide for traders, vocational workers and vendors interested in practising trade to invest in these markets and benefit from the services on offer.

Through the construction of Al Mafraq Bazar, the Municipality and Ghantoot Company will comply with the highest standards of infrastructure construction works. The Project will be fitted with rainwater drainage system, telecommunication network, water network, environmentally friendly street lights, car park for visitors, parking bay for offloading goods, and lanes for pedestrians and vehicles.

Bazar Al Mafraq

Bazar Al Mafraq is expected to be completed by the end of this year. It costs about AED 8 Million and can accommodate 480 traders. It will also include trucks restaurants, refrigerators for selling meat and frozen fish, and an area for occupations such as tailors, painters and sculptors. The shops will be given free to sellers who wish to trade in a legitimate and authorised way as the Municipality is keen to curb street hawkers’ and provide alternatives solutions for them.

The market is equipped with several facilities, including but not limited to: office for municipal employees and the market management, police office, men's and women's prayer rooms and toilets.
