SHARJAH - The amount of water produced in the Emirate of Sharjah during 2018, reached more than 37 billion gallons of water, according to the latest statistics issued by the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA).

The statistics also revealed that the biggest share of water consumption was by the residential sector with almost 62 percent (17.2 billion gallons) while commercial sector consumed 24 percent (6.7 billion gallons).

Governmental sector consumption was at 9 percent, industrial at 5 percent and agricultural at 0.1 percent.

Dr. Rashid Al Leem, Chairman of SEWA, said that the Authority is exerting great efforts to produce, desalinate and distribute water to consumers and is making efforts to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation and use it optimally.
