Kuwait: Since the dawn of the smartphone era, consumers have wanted their devices to be capable to do more. With the evolution of network connectivity, it became possible to do more with each generation. The first generation allowed for voice communication, 2G added text, 3G brought about advanced computing and 4G gave consumers faster data speeds for an enhanced connectivity and browsing experience. The race is on for the next generation, 5G which promises users faster download speeds up to 1Gbps, 25 times faster than current 4G networks. Bringing to the table 30 years of experience and a diverse portfolio that consists of a range of patents, 5G base stations, chipsets and devices, Huawei is here to accelerate the arrival of a 5G powered future.

Huawei has been a strong contender in the race for 5G innovation, from as early as 2009. Huawei has invested a total of 4 billion USD since 2009 in 5G research and development, including chipset, material, algorithm, antenna, cooling and more, even investing up to 1.2 billion euros in 2019 alone. This research and development has resulted in huge strides for Huawei’s 5G development, and the newly launched HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G is a prime example.

Originally announced back in September of 2019, the HUAWEI Mate 30 saw 7 million units shipped in just 60 days, a staggering 75% increase when compared to the previous HUAWEI Mate 20 series. This also contributed to the global shipments of both the P and Mate series exceeding 44 million units last year. The flagship smartphone’s 5G variant, HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G was recently launched with dedicated 5G hardware that puts it in the front line of the 5G race.

A key player in making this happen lies at the heart of the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G, the Kirin 990 (5G). The world’s first flagship 5G chipset, the Kirin 990 (5G) SoC comes with a sophisticated design that allows it to have both the processors and 5G baseband in one chip, allowing for a more compact design while also providing exceptional 5G connectivity at lower temperatures and power consumption. Another feature that makes it stand apart from other 5G devices is its capability to support both 5G Non Standalone (NSA), which uses existing 4G infrastructure and 5G Standalone (SA) networks, the faster and more stable network. This feature is of key importance to enjoy uninterrupted 5G connectivity, since smartphones that only support NSA networks will not work when the eventual transition to SA networks takes place. Thanks to its capability to support both NSA and SA networks, HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G users don’t have to worry about getting a new device.

Huawei has also incorporated iconic design elements to its flagship 5G king, such as the Halo Ring Design on the back of the phone, complete with an 88 degree Ultra Curve display that gives it an Endless Screen Design. What makes it stand out further is the color variants, giving users the options of a stunning Emerald Green or a Vegan leather Orange variant.

Huawei also works towards developing other user oriented features that give it an edge when compared to other devices in the market. For example, the AI Gestures features allows users to easily scroll pages by waving their hands instead of physically touching the screen, even pinching to take a screenshot, clearly the next step of smartphone inputs. Users can also enjoy the Intelligent Multi-Screen Collaboration* feature, that allows them to wirelessly stream their phone to their laptop and even control it with just a tap. This enhances productivity, especially since users can easily drag and drop between devices.

Apart from its 5G hardware, the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G’s super camera hardware also puts it ahead, evident by being scored 123 points in the DxOMark’s review. DxOMark is the photographic ranking system which thoroughly evaluates the image quality of smartphone cameras and being ranked at the top of this system is a testament to the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G’s camera capabilities.

The HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G packs a quad camera system, that houses the world’s first dual 40MP main camera setup including a 40MP SuperSensing and a 40MP Cine Camera. Additionally, the setup is further supported by an 8MP Telephoto lens and a 3D Depth Sensing Camera. The 40MP Cine Camera also supports Ultra Low-light Video of ISO 51,200, the highest sensitivity for mobile videography rivaling professional video cameras, Ultra Slow-motion Video at 7680fps previously only can be captured by professional cameras and 4K Ultra-Wide Angle Low-light Time-lapse Video.

5G connectivity can also heavily task a smartphone’s battery. However, Huawei has taken the years of experience as an advantage, creating the perfect solution. Not only does the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G come with a 4,500 mAh battery, it is also designed to charge back up at lightning speeds thanks to the 27W Wireless HUAWEI Supercharge and 40W Wired HUAWEI Supercharge. Users can also use the improved Huawei Wireless Reverse Charge feature to charge other devices. Huawei has also improved its car chargers, giving users a 40W in-Car Wired charge and 27W In-Car Wireless Charge.

Security wise, Huawei has built an isolated Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) outside the open Android environment. This allows the storing of personal data such as fingerprints, facial recognition and passwords locally on the most secure part of the chipset itself. An additional innovative feature called AI Private View also blocks out messages when an extra pair of eyes are detected.

It is to be noted that the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G does not come with Google Mobile Services pre-installed. Users can download and enjoy their favorite apps from the Huawei AppGallery that is pre-installed in the phone.

The future of connectivity is here and to enjoy it you need a device that brings tomorrow’s features today. Powerful hardware, user-oriented features and a design that stands out, puts the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G ahead of the curve when it comes to 5G development. After years of dedicated 5G research and manufacturing 5G dedicated hardware, Huawei’s HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro 5G can proudly boast its title as the King of 5G smartphones.
