Sharjah: Sharjah Airport announced today that Vistara’s inaugural flight arrived from Delhi, India. Vistara, India’s leading airline, also operates daily flights between Mumbai’s International Airport and Sharjah Airport. The airport welcomed the inaugural flight with a traditional water cannon salute.

Sharjah Airport hosted an esteemed reception in the "Lounge", in the presence of Dr Aman Puri, Consul General of India in Dubai, his accompanying delegation, as well as a number of airport officials.

Sharjah Airport was chosen by Vistara for their new destinations due to its strategic location, its integrated infrastructure, and recent expansion that provides distinctive facilities that embody the airport's commitment to providing the highest standards of services to ensure the comfort and happiness of travelers.

Enhance travellers’ experiences

His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: “The launch of these flights between Sharjah and both Delhi and Mumbai reinforce the airport’s esteemed position as an international aviation hub. We are constantly striving to enhance travellers’ experiences, through a range of integrated services within the airport, as well as the opportunity to discover the cultural heritage of Sharjah and all of its tourist and entertainment attractions.”

His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa continued, “We are keen to provide the highest standards of service to our customers, and the partnership between airlines such as Vistara is evidence of the trust and confidence placed in us.”

Strategic collaboration

Vistara’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Leslie Thng, said: ”We at Vistara are extremely pleased to start this new route between Delhi and Sharjah and look forward to also launching our Mumbai-Sharjah route very soon. As the best airline from India, we are delighted to be able to offer our valued passengers even more routes, and are constantly looking to expand our network and provide seamless services.”

Sharjah Airport has recently been very successful in attracting more airlines and air freight companies, as these companies seek to take advantage of the growing demand for travel and freight through the emirate of Sharjah.

Vistara Airlines is a joint venture between Tata Sons Ltd. and Singapore Airlines. Vistara launched its commercial operations on January 9, 2015, aiming to set new standards within the Indian aviation sector, and today, the airline’s flights cover various parts of India.
