Oman-based Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn said its social responsibility department had organised a afforestation campaign at Al Rusayl Industrial City under the slogan (Together for Green Madayn).

Organised in co-operation with a number of investing companies in Al Rusayl Industrial City, the campaign is aimed at enhancing the significance of preserving the environment and minimising the negative environmental impact in the industrial cities.

Leading firms including Muscat Gas, United Engineering Services, Jotun Paints, Sweets of Oman, National Biscuit Industries, Local Tents Factory, National Aluminium Products, Oman Oasis backed the Madayn's efforts besides Omani Sidr Association, and Environment Society of Oman.

The event, which was held in the presence of Engineer Mohsin bin Zahran Al Hinai, CEO of Al Rusayl Industrial City Company, came in line with the sultanate’s Tree Day celebrations which fall on October 31.

“The objective of this event is to raise awareness among the industrial companies investing in Madayn to work together towards achieving an ideal environment and reducing its negative impacts,” remarked Al Hinai.

It also involves creating awareness on the significance of increasing green areas of the companies based in Al Rusayl Industrial City and disseminating awareness on water management and treatment methods adopted by a number of bodies in Oman.

"Such initiatives strengthen partnerships with the private sector in social responsibility aspects. These efforts shall open new horizons for sustainable development partnerships for future projects through the companies based in the various industrial cities of Madayn" he stated.

"Moreover, we not only aim to reach out to the companies in the industrial cities, but also all segments of the society including school students who have taken part in the afforestation campaign," he added.

Dr Hamad bin Mohamed Al Ghaliani, Director of Community Affairs at the ESO, said: "We aspire to enable the citizens to play an active role and volunteer in projects related to nature conservation and environmental protection."

"We also cooperate with relevant local, regional and international bodies in addition to scientific and research organisations in this regard," stated Al Ghaliani.
‘Together for Green Madayn Campaign’ focuses on the presence of Omani plants taking into consideration that local plants are more able to adapt to Oman’s environment more than other plants, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
