MUSCAT: National Bank of Oman (NBO) has received more than 1,400 applications for its tech event of the year, Innovation Incubator.

The initiative, a collaboration with the SME Development Authority, Oman Academy for SMEs, and Paradigm Consulting, will take 30 IT students and fresh graduates through a tailored three-month programme delivered by specially trained NBO employees. In that time, they will be challenged to come up with ideas for a FinTech start-up and those that are successful will get the chance to pitch to potential investors.

Innovation Incubator is part of the NBO’s active corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. Through it, the bank continues to fulfil its long-standing commitment to the Sultanate’s young people with initiatives Outward Bound Oman and NBO’s Scholarship programme, offering merit-based scholarships to create opportunities for and empower young people from low-income families. By continuing to foster partnerships between the private and public sectors through a range of educational and youth-led programmes, the bank is fulfilling its goals to empower local talent and position Oman as a future-ready economy.
