Jeddah — The fourth and fifth stages of the development of the Jeddah waterfront will be launched by the municipality next month.

The 4.2-km-long project extends from Al-Nawras Square to Jubair Bin Al-Harith Street, Madinah Arabic daily reported.

The development area is more than 700,000 square meters, according to sources in Jeddah Municipality.

Additional areas of 350,000 square meters have been added and the green areas are about 275,000 square meters. These include a 6-km-long sewage network, a 14-km-long drainage network of rainwater and floods, a 7-km-long network of irrigation tanks, drinking water and an electricity network consisting of 16 km of medium voltage cables, 35 km of low voltage cables and communications network.

These are in addition to a 4634-meter-long sea walkway and three swimming beaches of about 50,000 square meters.

The beach area has sprinkles in addition to observation towers.

The entire project will be LED lights.

The development project includes the construction of 10 public bathrooms, 10 paid bathrooms, 17 plaza areas, 14 fountains, five beach observation towers, five swimming beaches, and a marine taxi.

The project will also set up educational games for children besides traditional games.

In addition, there will be a restaurant area for mobile vehicles and seating areas as well as a 650-meter-long hanging pedestrian bridge that will connect the Corniche to Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Street. This will be the longest walking bridge in the Kingdom.
