As part of a special recognition ceremony on day one, GPCA will honor the industry pioneers for their valuable contribution in establishing a foundation for Responsible Care® in the Arabian Gulf region.

Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, Secretary General, GPCA, commented: “This year we celebrate a decade since Responsible Care® was adopted by chemical companies in the Arabian Gulf region. Given the critical juncture at which the industry stands today, and the increasingly important role it plays for our environment, communities and the economy, this important global industry initiative is no longer just nice to have, it is a license to operate and safeguard chemical companies’ credibility as responsible participants in society and a key part of our future.”

“The praise and global acclaim that GPCA members have received from across the world over the past years are a testament to our unwavering commitment to health, safety, sustainability and environmental excellence. We pride ourselves on the achievements we’ve collectively accomplished and look forward to facing future challenges stronger and more equipped than ever. The Responsible Care® Conference is an opportunity to do just that – to collaborate, share best practice and inspire one another to continue to excel and improve our performance now and in the decades to come.”

Responsible Care® is the chemical manufacturing industry’s environmental, health, safety and security performance initiative, which was launched in Canada in 1984, and is currently practiced in 68 economies around the world. GPCA adopted Responsible Care® in December 2009 in line with its commitment to continually advance the sustainability agenda in the Arabian Gulf chemical industry. Responsible Care® is obligatory for GPCA full member companies and an essential element of an organization’s license to operate.
