Dubai, UAE : To help people observe Ramadan safely this year, Careem is launching new services and features. April sees the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan, a time long-anticipated and cherished by many. Last year was a year of uncertainty, leaving people deprived of family bonding and closeness throughout Ramdan, and while some thought this year might be different, we still see restrictions in many countries across the region.

Making life simpler

For those Careem Customers who will be observing the Holy Month, Careem is bringing back its popular prayer widget which provides easy access to prayer times that are updated based on a customer’s location right on the app’s home screen.

To help communities have delicious food on the table right in time for Iftar, Careem is adding the option to pre-order Iftar meals every day before 4pm from a wide range of cuisines to suit everyone’s taste. The app will also display an array of discounts on services and savings for suhoor and iftar meals.

Careem App users will also still be able to receive and send eidiyah via Careem Pay - safe and socially distant.

Doing good

Careem is also making it easier for Customers to be generous during the Holy Month with various ways to support the less fortunate in the community. “Eat a plate to 2 fill a plate” is a program in the UAE allowing Careem Customers to directly donate a meal to someone in need. With every meal the Customer purchases, Careem’s partner restaurant will donate a meal to a child through the “Share the meal foundation”.

Careem is also considering those who won’t be able to celebrate with their loved ones in person this year. The buy and send service allows Customers to share their home cooked goods by sending a Careem Captain to family members who are not in the same place. The ingredients for a home cooked meal can be easily ordered with Careem’s grocery service on the Super App.

Commenting on the campaign launch, Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Co-Founder of Careem said “Not only is Ramadan a month embraced by communities all over the world, but it’s also an exceptional one for Careem as it was the month in which we were founded, making it extra special for the Careem family. As we reflect on how fortunate we’ve been, we are inspired to do even more to fulfill our purpose of simplifying and improving peoples’ lives”.

The Careem app is available on the Apple App Store,Google Play or via direct Android download.
