Hungarian Ministry for Innovation and Technology planned to develop 100MW Kaposvar Solar Park Project, in Kaposvar, Somogy, Hungary. China National Machinery Import & Export Corp and China Energy Engineering Corp Ltd were the construction contractors. The project covered the construction of 100 MW power plant. After the grid-connected operation, it could generate 130 million kwh of electricity every year, save 45,000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 120,000 tons. The project signified a successful docking of China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Hungary's Opening to the East policy and contributed to developing a well-balanced and sustainable energy mix in Hungary and guaranteeing the country’s energy security.
