Background

Government of the State of Sao Paulo planned to develop Sao Paulo Metro Line 2 Project, in Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Power Construction Corp of China Ltd was the construction contractor. The project covered an 8.3km extension of metro Line 2-Green with eight stations from Vila Prudente north to Penha. When complete, Line 2-Green would be 23km long with 22 stations. The extension was expected to attract an additional 377,000 riders per day to Line 2-Green boosting overall daily ridership on the line to 1.1 million passengers. The The Sao Paulo Metro Line 2 Extension Project was the first rail transit project of China Power Construction in the Americas, and the first government-funded project of China Power Construction in the Brazilian market. The project would ease local transportation and bring convenience to local residents.
