Background

Electricite du Cambodge planned to develop Cambodia Eastern Ring Grid Project, in Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia. China National Heavy Machinery Corporation was the construction contractor. The project was divided into 2 phases. The phase 1 of project contract included two new substations (230 kv and 115 kv) and a 230kV transmission line with a total length of about 275 kilometers. The construction period was 36 months. Phase 2 included the construction and expansion of substations, the construction of 85 kilometers of 230kV transmission lines and 72 kilometers of 115kV transmission lines. After the project was completed, it would improve the power supply network in the northeastern part of Cambodia, enhance the power transmission capacity, and change the region’s dependence on imported power.
