Background

Waste Management Authority Western Province planned to develop 10 MW Gampaha Waste to Energy Project, in Gampaha, Western, Sri Lanka. Verve Energy Pty Ltd was the BOO developer. Gregory's Partners was the legal advisor to Verve Energy and China Conch Venture Holdings Ltd. Opus Clean Energy Alliance (Pvt) Ltd would to be responsible for the applications for approval and construction of the project. The project covered the construction of a 10-12 MW waste-to-energy power plant on 48562.3 square meter (12 acres) area. The facility was expected to produce 10-12 MW of electricity, which would be fed into the national electricity grid. The project was developed under a PPP model. The project would promote the Belt & Road Initiative cooperation between Sri Lanka and China.
