Saudi Arabian Oil Company (ARAMCO) plans to develop a gas shale field in Rub' Al Khali (Empty Quarter), Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The project aims at increasing the gas production in the country and to supply feedstock for the production of domestic power. The project will be divided into 2 parts viz. gas central processing facilities and offsites – utilities packages. This project is part of Saud Arabia's plan to explore unconventional energy sources as a preemptive measure in the case of conventional energy sources scarcity in the future. Feasibility study was carried in house, China National Petroleum Corporation Limited (BGP) is the seismic study consultant.
