Background

Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo planned to develop 495 MW Congo DRC 5 Hydropower Stations Project located in Haut-Lomami, Haut-Katanga and Sud-Kivu provinces of Democratic Republic of the Congo. On December 2 2020, Weihai International and the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed a framework development agreement for 5 hydropower stations. In the near future, Weihai International will jointly carry out on-site feasibility study and survey activities with a domestic design team. The planned total installed capacity of the five power stations was 495MW, including: Kilubi1 hydropower station maintenance 15MW, Kilubi2 hydropower station development 15MW, Kimimbi fuka hydropower station development 153MW, Pweto hydropower station development 282MW, ulindi hydropower station development 30MW.
