Ongoing

Background

Government of Guinea planned to develop 225 KV Guinea-Mali Electric Interconnection Line Project, in Nzerekore, Nzerekore, Guinea. Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co Ltd was the EPC contractor for Fomi substation. Guinea and Mali would construct a 225 kV interconnection line of 714 km that runs from a proposed substation at Nzerekore in Guinea up to Sanankoroba in Mali including the extension of two substations as well as the new construction of five 225 kV substations in Guinea (Fomi, Beyla, Kerouane, Kankan, Siguiri). This project would increase the quality of energy supply in Guinea and Mali and to establish an integrated regional energy market in West Africa through cross-border exchanges of cheap and cleaner surplus power.
