UAE, Dubai: The official inauguration of the Italian Trade Agency pavilion took place earlier today on the first day of Arab Health 2021 by His Excellency Nicola Lener, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, along with Giuseppe Finocchiaro, Italian Consul-General in Dubai and Amedeo Scarpa, Italian Trade Commissioner.

During the opening, His Excellency said that Italian producers and manufactures have a lot to offer the UAE’s healthcare industry, “Italy has one of the highest rates of investment in healthcare R&D in Europe, and our government is actively supporting innovative SMEs and start-ups and their new approach to tackling today’s problems. These solutions will help advance the UAE’s healthcare market and we are anticipating some very fruitful partnerships to come from Arab Health.”

Fifty-one Italian companies, including eight innovative start-ups selected by ITA in its official pavilion, are present at Arab Health this week. Amedeo Scarpa, Italian Trade Commissioner commented, “Italy is recognised internationally for its excellence in the Biotech, Pharma and Medical Devices sectors, the three major sectors of Life Science. There are currently 4,323 Italian companies operating in the Medical Devices sector with a total value of 16.7 billion Euros, of which 5.7 billion Euros of this were exported in 2020, which is a 1.2 per cent increase compared to 2019. On the other side, the UAE’s Medical Devices market is expected to reach AED 5.6 billion ($1.5bn) by 2025, with an annual compound growth rate (CAGR) of 4.4 per cent from 2020, and our manufacturers are in a strong position to support the county’s growth. The demand is there; the Italian offer too.”
