Amongst the top priorities of the tasks of the Chambers of Commerce is to help its members and affiliates to increase commercial exchanges between their respective countries and to provide useful information that would enable businessmen to explore a potential investment opportunities in our Islamic Countries.

As a part of this mandate, and on the sidelines of its 25th Board of Directors and 33rd General Assembly Meeting, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture has published a Report about Textile and Ready-made garments Industry in the Islamic World, which was published in Arabic and English languages.

This brief study is to highlight one of the most significant sectors of the global economies. Textile and garments, are major market and chief commodity in international trade, as it provides massive opportunities for growth, particularly in the developing countries. The global garment market is expected to increase by annual rate of 9.2%, that reaches US$ 515.20 billion by the year 2020.

In the Islamic World, the textile and garment, considered a fast growing market in 2014, the 57 OIC Member Countries, contributed 7.9% of the global garments sales. This percentage is expected to reach up to 9.1% by the year 2018.

Islamic Countries such as Bangladesh, Indonesia and Pakistan became major players in the global textile and garment manufacturing market.

This brief report highlights major points including: Garment and Textile Industries and Commerce of OIC Countries, initiatives undertaken by the OIC Member Countries, to strengthen the Textile and Garment Industries. It also highlights the potentials and opportunities that are available in the OIC Member Countries.
