Doha – Qatar: Qatargas, the World’s Premier LNG Company, hosted senior executives from major shipping companies, global safety experts and key industry stakeholders at the Qatargas Shipping Safety Forum titled “QSSF Al Salama”.  This inaugural event was held at Qatargas Head Office in Doha.

Coordinated by Qatargas’ Shipping Department, the forum will be repeated annually with the objective of promoting and delivering safety excellence in the marine transportation of LNG.

QSSF Al Salama reinforces the importance of safe and reliable delivery of LNG to Qatargas customers and the criticality of incident free bunker operations at Ras Laffan. With safety as a core value, Qatargas Shipping Department, together with its ship owner partners, continually strive for incident and injury free operation. All are unreservedly committed to protecting their people, assets and the environment. Safety is the commonly shared value that unites all Qatargas marine transportation business partners.

During the forum Qatargas Senior Management reinforced key messages about the importance of safe and reliable cargo delivery to its customers around the world. The 70 ships, operated under long-term charter with Qatargas, form a critically important ‘floating pipeline’ between Ras Laffan and Qatargas customers around the globe. The opportunity was also taken to respectfully recognise the long term and greatly valued relationship between Qatargas and its chartered fleet ship owners and operators.

The event was attended by senior management representatives from the industry leading shipping companies including Nakilat and Milaha. Qatargas’ international ship owners and operators were also widely represented with attendance from Commerz Real, K Line, NYK, MOL, Marangas, Pronav, STASCO and Teekay. Representatives from Ras Laffan Port, Woqod, Qatargas’ shareholders and important industry stakeholders such as the British Safety Council also attended the event.
