GlobeMed Bahrain, the leading healthcare benefits management company in Bahrain, conducted its conference themed 'Empowering the Future of Health Insurance' at the Wyndham Grand Hotel Manama on November 28, 2019. The conference was attended by insurance companies and insurance brokerage firms from the Bahraini market along with prominent media members.

Mr. Tarek Salibi, General Manager of GlobeMed Bahrain, welcomed attendees and emphasized the company's efforts to provide the highest standards of services, in cooperation with the health insurance sector to meet the medical and insurance needs of the Bahraini society. Furthermore, Mr. Salibi announced the launch of the new Chronic Medication Delivery service through the cooperation of GlobeMed Bahrain with Wael Pharmacy.

GlobeMed Bahrain also honored Mr. Ibrahim Al Rayes, CEO of Bahrain Kuwait Insurance Company, for his distinguished efforts and achievements in the health insurance sector and Dr. George Cheriyan, CEO of the American Mission Hospital, for the hospital’s sociable and charitable efforts in the Bahraini community.

The conference unveiled the latest digital tools provided by GlobeMed Bahrain including the innovative Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application and GlobeMed FIT mobile app. The CRM provides customer care agents a 360-degree view of their customers enabling the agents to better serve the customers and enhance their experience. GlobeMed FIT allows members to manage their health insurance, submit reimbursement requests, search their provider network as well as manage their health by setting weight goals and monitoring their daily progress through nutrition and fitness tracking. It also provides members with the ability to store their medical records and conveniently share them with their doctors for an enhanced patient experience.   

The conference also considered the future of the health insurance industry. For his part, Mr. Ziad Kharma, Vice President -Business Development, Actuarial Services and Data Sciences at GlobeMed Group, discussed the megatrends that are reshaping our industry and specifically the shift in the underwriting paradigm that will be driven by keeping people healthy rather than anticipating the cost of sickness.

Furthermore, Dr. Haitham Al Hajjar, Business Development Manager at Princess Al Jawhara Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics introduced attendees to the concept of Pharmacogenomics, which is becoming more mainstream and enabling us to personalize treatment protocols based on an individual’s genetic profile. The conference was concluded with a lunch that gathered all attendees.
