Manama: The Bahrain India Society (BIS) held its Annual General Meeting virtually on 29 April 2021. New eleven board members were elected for the three-year term (2021-2023) out of 13 candidates.

The AGM was presided by the BIS founding chairman, H.E. Abdulnabi Al Sho'ala, extending his best wishes for the new board in achieving their plans and various activities fruitfully.

The winners of the BIS’s Board membership were as follows: Mr. Kishore Kewalram, Mr. Abdulrahman Juma, Mr. Mohammed Al Khaja, Mr. P S Balasubramanyam, Mr. Vijay Boloor, Mrs. Zahra Taher, Mr. Soman Baby, Mr. Ahmed Jawahery, Mr. Talal Al Mannai, Mr. Vinod Das, and Mr. Harish Gopinath.

The newly elected Board convened its first meeting on 5 May 2021. Mr. Abdulrahman Juma was appointed the Chairman, along with the appointment of Mr. P S Balasubramanyam as Vice Chairman, Mrs. Zahra Taher - Secretary-General, Mr. Vijay Boloor -Treasurer, Mr. Harish Gopinath – Head of the fund-raising committee, Mr. Soman Baby – Head of public relations committee, and Mr. Kishore Kewalram – Head of the membership committee.

The new chairman Mr. Abdulrahman Juma stated his gratitude and appreciation to Board Members for their trust and promising cooperation to achieve BIS’s visions during the new term for the next three years, and turning their aspirations and goals into concrete success stories.

Bahrain India Society was formed in 2008 by a group of leading Bahrain and Indian businessmen to contribute to the development and strengthening of the centuries-old friendly relationship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of India in a non-discriminatory, non-political and non-profit making manner. The Society seeks to take advantage of the development in civil society to actively work to strengthen ties between the two countries, not only business links but in politics, social affairs, science, and culture.
