Earnings from tech giants will grab the spotlight next week on Wall Street.
Expect Facebook to post a rise in revenue when it reports its second quarter results Wednesday. Wall Street will be on the look out for any comments the world's largest social network makes on user privacy, its $5 billion FTC settlement .... and its cryptocurrency, Libra, which came under fire in Congress this week.
The next day, Amazon, will likely report an increase in revenue. The world's largest online retailer keeps benefiting from soaring demand for its cloud and advertising businesses. Keep your eyes out for its forecast, which could have gotten a lift from its annual mid-summer Prime Day shopping event.
Wall Street will have its nose out for any signs of progress Boeing is making to get its troubled 737 MAX jets back in the air again when the aerospace giant reports on Wednesday. The grounding of that aircraft following two deadly crashes is expected to drive down profit and revenue.
On Friday, investors will get a read on economic growth. Gross domestic product is expected to have risen at a 1.8% annualized rate in the second quarter.
