RIYADH The National Center for the Development of Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification said on Monday that penalties will be imposed on those who harm vegetation cover in forests and national parks.

“Dumping waste in national parks is a violation that requires a fine of up to SR2,000, and setting on fires in places other than its designated areas is a violation that warrants a fine of up to SR3,000,” the center said in a statement.

The executive regulation for the development of vegetation cover and combating desertification stipulates that damaging fixed or movable facilities, cutting or damaging fences, or tampering with border or signboards in forests and parks is a violation with a maximum fine of SR3000.
