Muscat: The Royal Oman Police ( ROP), has arrested or issued notices to more than 136 people on the first day of Eid Al Fitr for violating the decisions of the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19.

In Muscat Governorate, 34 expats were arrested for gathering and playing cricket in Al Ansab. Administrative action was taken against them. 40 more were arrested in Ghala industrial zone for gathering and holding Eid prayers. In Al Khoud, 13 expats, gathered on the roof of a building faced arrest and legal action.

Outside Muscat Governorate, in North Al Sharqiyah, a group of people playing camel sport were arrested for gathering in a public place in Senaw. In Dhofar, several notices were issued against those not wearing masks and other violations.

In Al Dakhiliyah, 49 expats who had gathered for lunch in a commercial complex, were arrested. Additionally, the security police Command of oil and gas facilities issued notices against individuals for not wearing masks while in public places in the concession areas.
