The Supreme Committee in the Sultanate of Oman has decided to lift from Saturday the total closure and reduce the hours of non-movement at night in all governorates , except for Dhofar.

The lockdown of Dhofar governorate will continue until further notice. Oman had banned travel between all provinces from July 25 to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

"The Committee has reviewed the initial reports regarding the total closure between the governorates of the Sultanate, which started on Saturday, 25th July 2020 and will continue until Saturday, 8th August 2020. Accordingly, the Committee decided to lift the complete closure among the governorates at on Saturday, 8 August 2020 at 6:00 am," according to a statement.

The Committee has also decided to reduce the hours of the daily curfew from 9 pm to 5 am for a week starting from Saturday, August 8.

According to a report from the Ministry of Health on July 30, the total cases in the country has reached 79,159, including 61421 recoveries and 421 deaths.
