New legislations aimed at protecting children are set to be introduced in Bahrain.

Shura Council woman and child committee chairwoman Dr Ibtisam Al Dallal said that new laws were in the pipeline, including correctional justice for children.

She was reading out a statement at the end of the chamber’s weekly session yesterday.

Her speech coincided with World’s Children Day, which was celebrated worldwide last Friday.

“In just a few years, Bahrain has introduced advanced legislations like Family Law and Protection from Domestic Violence Law, amongst many, and there are more as the country evolves its legislations,” she said.

“Children are already getting the best medical, educational and social care and international recognition shows we are on the right track.”

Meanwhile, Shura Council secretary general Osama Al Asfoor read out a statement at the beginning of the session praising the G20 summit being held virtually in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia is the first Arab nation to host a summit of leaders of the world’s 20 biggest economies.
