A law decree was yesterday approved stipulating the establishment of a Sustainable Energy Authority.

The new entity, which will be affiliated to the Council of Ministers, will replace the Sustainable Energy Centre.

Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, while chairing the weekly Cabinet session, submitted a memo in this regard.

The draft law decree specifies the goals of the new authority as well as the prerogatives of its chief executive who will be appointed by decree.

Efforts to recruit unemployed doctors and new medical graduates in the public and private sectors came under scrutiny.

The session followed up initiatives and solutions which have been so far to implement His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s directives in co-operation with relevant authorities.

The Labour and Social Development Ministry was directed to submit periodic reports and give an update of efforts to recruit unemployed medical graduates.

A plan to restructure the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry was yesterday approved.

The step was based on the recommendation of the Civil Service Council (CSC), chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

The ministry will be restructured after the cancellation of one directorate, the merger of two departments, and the renaming of a fourth, said Cabinet secretary general Dr Yasser Al Nasser.

The session also approved the restructuring of the Information Affairs Ministry following the scrapping of a directorate and the renaming of another.

The Tender Board will also be administratively restructured, with the scrapping of the position of the assistant secretary general with the rank of assistant under-secretary.

The National Oil and Gas Authority (Noga) will also be partially overhauled with the establishment of two new directorates and the renaming of one department, as well as positions of deputy chief executives.

The Cabinet congratulated the Kuwaiti government and people marking the safe return of the Amir, Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, after the completion of successful medical check-ups, wishing brotherly Kuwait further progress and prosperity under his leadership.

The session expressed congratulations to Tunisian President-elect Kais Saied, wishing brotherly Tunisia further progress and prosperity under his leadership.

The Cabinet approved Bahrain’s first report on the fulfilment of its obligations in accordance with the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), and tasked the Foreign Minister to submit it to the competent UN entity.

According to the Cabinet Affairs Minister and the Foreign Minister, the report highlighted Bahrain’s efforts to fulfill its obligations in economic, social and cultural rights, in addition to procedures taken to ensure respect for the rights recognised in ICESCR and the progress made in this regard.

The Cabinet approved the executive regulation of the Public Cleanliness Law 10/2019, and a draft-edict on its issuance.

The executive regulation shall regulate the conditions and treatment of waste and its sorting regulations, including health care activities, industrial and service activities waste.

The regulation also specifies the way to deal with neglected vehicles and all types of scrap in the streets, squares, spaces, beaches and public places, as recommended by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs in its memorandum.

The cabinet approved the government’s reply on two proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives regarding the operation of a health centre around the clock, and the official working hours of ministries and government departments during the holy month of Ramadan.
