The Court, presided over by Chief Judge Sameh Shaker, also ordered Abdulrahim Mirzaq, another former official involved in the same lawsuit, to serve three years in prison on relevant charges.
As per the court records, the case unfolded when the suspects founded a bogus company for renting and re-renting hotels in violation of law.
The RAK public prosecution also charged the suspects with squandering public funds on renting a hotel for years without any benefit.
The court found the suspects guilty and ordered them to serve the jail terms. They were also ordered to pay back the Dh2.128 million they illegally squandered, and slapped them with a similar fine (Dh2.128 million).
