AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Wednesday received Palestinian Minister of Agriculture Riyad Al Attari.

Talks during the meeting highlighted the importance of the newly launched Jordanian-Palestinian agricultural marketing company in stepping up the competitiveness of the Jordanian and Palestinian farmers, as well as supporting the joint agricultural projects, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Khasawneh reiterated the Kingdom’s stance in support of the Palestinians, towards the establishment of an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Attari expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s firm position in support of the Palestinians to meet their legitimate rights.

He also drew attention to the necessity of enhancing the role of the joint committees of the two sides’ ministries of agriculture to ease the flow of commodities and improve both agriculture sectors.

Also on Wednesday, Lower House Speaker Abdulmunim Oddat met with Attari and stressed the importance of the Jordanian-Palestinian agricultural marketing company.

During the meeting, attended by Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat, Oddat said that establishing this company reflects a Jordanian political will that His Majesty King Abdullah has always expressed in supporting the Palestinian people in various fields, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Oddat reiterated that Jordan, under the leadership of King Abdullah, will remain the supporter of the “Palestinian brothers”, pointing out that the Jordanian position remains firm despite many pressures, and the King continued to place the Palestinian cause and defending Jerusalem at the top of his priorities.

Attari said that Jordan's stances, led by King Abdullah, constituted a real and uninterrupted support for strengthening the steadfastness of the Palestinians.

He reaffirmed support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Hneifat expressed hope that the company would support the steadfastness of Palestinians and enable Jordanian and Palestinian farmers to find marketing opportunities, packing centres and points of sale in the region and beyond.
