AMMAN — Twenty-seven underprivileged families in Maan’s Mudawara district on Saturday received housing units as part of the Royal Initiative for Housing, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Covering all the Kingdom’s governorates, the initiative was launched in 2005 in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives expressed in his meeting with dignitaries of the governorates.

Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi handed over the keys of new houses to beneficiary families and toured the fully equipped and furnished residences, accompanied by Minister of Youth Minister of Social Development in charge Mohammad Salameh Al Nabulsi.

Covering all the Kingdom’s governorates, the initiative targets beneficiaries that are in need, which are chosen according to the transparent criteria endorsed by the Ministry of Social Development.

The said criteria include the number of family members, their health condition and size of their income, Issawi noted.

During the handover ceremony, which witnessed adherence to current health measures due to the spread of COVID-19, the families expressed deep appreciation of the Royal initiatives, adding that they are reflective of His Majesty’s commitment to ensuring people’s welfare, Petra reported.

Issawi also inaugurated Shobak Women’s Association building, Anwar Women’s Association building as well as Mudawara Women’s Association building, in cooperation with the Zaha Cultural Centre.

His Majesty’s first concern is the Jordanian individual, especially in remote areas, Issawi said, noting that Royal directives focus on the need to contact all people in various regions of the Kingdom and work diligently to meet their needs, in a way that contributes to improving the quality of their life, empowering them and enhancing their role in serving their local communities.
