Abu Dhabi - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), represented by the Spectrum Management Affairs, is participating in the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) 2019, and the Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX) 2019, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEX), from 17 to 21 February 2019.

TRA team has been working with the exhibition organization committee to manage the use of radio frequency and wireless devices by the exhibiting entities to prevent harmful interference during the exhibition.

During its participation in this major event, TRA showcases its latest systems, projects and initiatives in the frequency spectrum field, including the distribution and allocation of frequency spectrum for all radio services, and the coordination and protection of spectrum through monitoring using the latest equipment. TRA’s Spectrum Management Affairs highlights the latest systems and innovations adopted by TRA in the field of frequency allocation and the issuance of wireless licenses and authorization for all radio services in the country.

Commenting on TRA participation in IDEX, H.E. Majed Al Mesmar, TRA Deputy Director General for Telecommunications Sector, said: “IDEX is one of the world’s largest international events in defence industry and related technologies and solutions, bringing together the most prominent companies in this field. This exhibition has proven to be successful, highlighting the strategic importance of the UAE as a hub for exhibitions and major events. TRA’s participation in organizing and exhibiting comes as a part of its close cooperation with the armed forces and all local partners, in accordance with the wise leadership directives, to achieve the UAE’s leadership in all fields."

H.E. Al Mesmar added: “Through participation in this global event, TRA seeks to show the high level the UAE has reached in the ICT field, on which the defence industry depends heavily, hence the aim of TRA to inform visitors of the implemented initiatives and projects, which have contributed to the development of the UAE at the civil and military levels. TRA also harnessed its expertise and capabilities in organizing frequencies and wireless devices in the exhibition halls, in order to ensure the proper functioning of the exhibition."

Visitors of TRA stand in the exhibition will be able to meet the Spectrum Management Affairs team and discuss relevant topics, in order to raise the public’s awareness and introduce the latest services and technologies in this field.
