Amman:  Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, has launched its fourth ‘Seeds for the Future’ training program for Jordanian students, with the opening ceremony taking place at Huawei’s global R&D center in Beijing  in presence of Mr. Hamze Al Omari Charge d'affaires of the Jordanian Embassy in China.

Huawei launched the training program with 10 students from several top Jordanian universities. The students will start their program in Beijing with a Chinese cultural immersion session and later travelling to Shenzhen to visit Huawei’s global headquarters, where they will be provided training and access to the latest global ICT advancements.

The training program is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Jordanian Ministry of ICT and Huawei, which was confirmed during a visit by Huawei’s Rotating Chairman Mr. Guoping to the recent World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa, where Mr. Guoping also met with H.M. King Abdullah Il bin Al Hussein.

Mr. Hamze Al Omari, stated: "The ‘Seeds for the Future’ program is an essential program for the purpose of knowledge sharing and enhancing the skills of Jordanian talent in the ICT sector. Working with leading entities from the private sector like Huawei serves the national economy and contributes to the ongoing development of our future workforce. It’s a model of cooperation that we believe in strongly and will continue to pursue in the years ahead.”

The program helps to bridge the gap between higher education and the requirements of a modern, digital-savvy workforce.

Zhang Liang, General Manager of Huawei Jordan, expressed his best wishes for the students. "We always strive to be on the forefront of technological innovation, and Jordan has long been home to a thriving ecosystem of talent in the ICT field. We are dedicated to working with these leaders of tomorrow to share best practices, learn from each other, and create opportunities for the future."

Huawei has already delivered three cycles of the ‘Seeds for the Future’ training program over the last three years. The program was established from an earlier MoU signed with the Jordanian Ministry of ICT and Huawei in November 2016. This has included the donation of a Telecom Lab along with specialized training courses for recent engineering graduates from Jordanian universities, giving students access to state-of-the-art technologies and techniques.

Sara Qunaibi, a student from Jordan University, spoke in the opening ceremony as a representative of the 2019 student group. “It is my first time to visit China and definitely the first time to have such engaging, hands-on experience to some of the world’s top ICT labs. We are experiencing a lot already, and it is only the beginning of this exciting program.”

Huawei is one of the world’s leading companies in the field of communications and information technology with approximately 180,000 employees in more than 170 countries around the world, including a strong presence in Jordan.
