ArabFinance: State-owned vaccine maker Vacseras second manufacturing facility in Sixth of October City is set to become the largest in the Middle East and Africa (MENA), Health Minister Hala Zayed said at a site visit on June 20th.

The new complex has a capacity of 3 million doses of Sinovacs covid-19 vaccine a day.

Health Ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed revealed that there is a plan to manufacture a European vaccine soon.

Egypt will contract with an undisclosed European company in the coming weeks to locally produce its jab through Vacsera.

The first batch of Made-in-Egypt Sinovac jabs could be done this week.

Zayed expected manufacturing as many as 40 million Sinovac jabs before the end of 2021.

However, Egypt is set to receive 25 million doses of Johnson & Johnsons single-shot vaccine, as part of the 300 million doses provided to Africa by the African Union.

In April, Vacsera signed two joint manufacturing agreements with Chinas Sinovac to locally produce the vaccine.
