Riyadh –  The value of transactions through points of sales (POS) in Saudi Arabia totalled SAR 33.21 billion in September 2020, up by 33.7% when compared to the prior-year month.

The number of transactions through POS surged by 96.67% year-on-year (YoY) last month to 292 million, compared with 148.5 million in September 2019, official data showed.

The number of used POS devices hit a 50.87% YoY growth in September 2020 at 614,285, compared to 407,150 in the same month a year earlier.

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the value of POS sales saw a 6.64% rise when compared to their level in August at SAR 31.15 billion.

Food and beverage dominated the highest value in POS transactions with SAR 5.32 billion, followed by restaurants and cafes with SAR 4.213 billion.
