AMMAN — Representative of the Garment and Jewellery Sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) Asad Qawasmi said that retailers are prepared for the school reopening with JD52 million worth of school uniform, bags and footwear in stock.

“School uniform retailers are fully prepared and ready to welcome the school season,” Qawasmi told The Jordan Times on Thursday. “School uniforms are 100 per cent locally manufactured,” he noted.

Public and private school uniforms are locally manufactured, following a government decision requiring all school uniforms to be made in the Kingdom.

Prices will remain stable during 2021, mainly because last year’s merchandise was not sold, in addition to the low purchasing power in Jordan, he said.

“Last year, nothing was sold, because schools were closed and there was no in-class education,” according to Qawasmi.

The Kingdom’s apparel and footwear industry employs 56,000 workers and comprises 11,800 facilities across Jordan.
