More than 50 per cent of the work has been completed in the final phase of the new passenger terminal coming up in the western section of the Bahrain International Airport (BIA) and is on track for opening in the second quarter of 2022, said Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) Chairman Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.

Kamal Mohammed was speaking to the media after a inspection tour of the BIA project site along with the representatives from the project consultant, Hill International, the contractor, and several BAC officials.

He praised the efforts of everyone involved and emphasized the importance of maintaining the current pace of work to complete the project on time.

The minister and the delegation were later briefed on the progress of the latest phase, which began in February, said the statement from BAC.

The Phase Two of the project involved the construction of two departure gates, six air bridges and bus departure gates, while the third and final phase will focus on aircraft fuel supply system, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
