Vaccinated visitors can enter Bahrain airport - Gulf Daily News

MANAMA: Vaccinated and Covid-19 recovered visitors will be allowed to enter Bahrain International Airport terminal from today.

The Bahrain Airport Company yesterday said the decision, taken in co-ordination with the authorities concerned, will enable visitors to use the facilities and services in the arrival and departure halls (before the travel registration offices).

Entry will only be permitted to individuals presenting proof that they are fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19 via the BeAware Bahrain app or officially approved apps from other GCC countries, the operator and manager of the airport said.

The GDN reported last week that 89 per cent of the country’s eligible population have been vaccinated with two shots, accounting for 70pc of Bahrain’s estimated 1.5 million population.

The country entered into the ‘yellow alert’ level on Sunday, which means masks must be worn at all times, and entry to shopping malls, shops and restaurants is restricted to those presenting the ‘green shield’.

Gulf Air, the national carrier, announced last month that it has resumed operations to 80pc of its pre-pandemic destinations, a month after stating that all its flights would be operated by 100pc vaccinated crew including pilots and flight attendants.

Passenger operations began at Bahrain International Airport’s swanky new terminal on January 28 this year.

Built at a cost of $1.1bn, the terminal allows the airport to accommodate 14m passengers per year, with the use of 104 check-in counters, 36 passport control units and 24 security screening points.
