Jeddah Governorate said that it is earmarking SR229 million ($61 million) for a project to revamp the waterfront along 2.8 km in order to develop over 180,000 sq m within the project, a media report said.

The project falls in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030 and Cities Humanization Initiative, aiming at improving living quality, in the governorate and raising the average per capita share, in terms of green spaces and parks' venues, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Implementing development is projected to last 30 months, as it involves re-paving of roads, construction of pedestrian squares and cyclists' corridors in addition to new green spaces, planting miscellaneous trees, playing grounds, fountains, cut-outs and other services including displaying smart items as well as sandy beaches for swimmers and investment sites.
