Abu Dhabi: United Bank Limited are on course for a knockout-round berth in the Ace-Pan Global Group Ramadan Twenty20 Cup. The banking outfit bounced back from their shock defeat to LLH Hospital to thrash Lions by eight wickets with more than nine overs to spare to keep their hopes alive in the competition.

Tasawar Ali took four for 18 from four overs to dismiss the Lions for 79 and then opener Syed Maqsood hammered a breezy 40 for his team to knock off the winning runs in 10.3 overs at the Zayed stadium.

The result took UBL’s points tally to four with a game in hand against Abu Dhabi Airports Company, the minnows in the group without a win in three games.

A victory over them may take UBL to the top of Group A as they have a better run-rate (2.48) over One Stop Tourism (1.60) and LLH Hospital (0.13), who have both completed their matches and are on six points each.

LLH Hospital edged out the Lions on the previous night by four runs but they may find themselves well short of going beyond the group stage.

Multiplex made it three-out-of-three to qualify for the knockout round from Group C. They hammered Adyard by eight wickets, hitting the runs in 6.4 overs after bowling out their opponents for 71. Zubair Khan did most of the damage by taking four for 11 from four overs.

Health Authority Abu Dhabi posted the highest total of the competition so far, 239 for four, against the bottom team Environment Agency in Group D. Imran Ali, the opener, led the charge with a top score of 61 from 37 balls highlighted by 10 fours and a six.
