Polar Manufacturing, a UK-based specialist in carbon fibre production and engineering, has set up a plant in Al Hamra Industrial Zone, Ras Al Khaimah to cater to the growing demand for carbon fibre and composite products in the UAE and MENA.

Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) said in a statement that the new facility, spread over an area of 3,600 square metre land with a built-up area of 1,364 sqm, would design and manufacture carbon fibre products for blue-chip brands in various fields, such as automotive, aerospace, sport and leisure, agriculture, defense, marine, medical, transport, also including high-end bespoke commissions.

The statement didn't disclose the investment but said the facility will also create over 50 high-skilled job opportunities in the emirate.

Ramy Jallad, Group CEO of RAKEZ, said: “Over the years, we have created clusters of companies in our zones to encourage B2B collaborations, and this is one of the many ways manufacturers benefit within our ecosystem, in addition to the range of solutions and ease of doing business that we offer.

RAKEZ is currently home to RAK Ceramics, one of the world’s largest ceramics companies; Dabur Naturelle, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of Ayurvedic medicines, as well as home, health and personal products; and Ashok Leyland, Indian bus manufacturer.

"Ras Al Khaimah proved to be the most cost-effective location being at the centre of the trade in the region and RAKEZ’s high quality and personalised support enabled us to identify the right solution and set up quickly,” said Mike Harris, Group CEO of Group Polar Ltd.
