Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Celebrating over a decade of fundraising success and fun, the 11th edition of the JPS Spring Fair returns on February 28th 2020, between 2:00 – 6:00pm. Hosted on the school grounds of GEMS Jumeirah Primary School (JPS) in Al Safa 1 and open to the JPS community and the general public, the fun-filled family event will raise funds to support children’s education in developing countries.

Driven by the Parent Teacher Association, the JPS Spring Fair is the school’s largest and most highly anticipated event of the year. Drawing crowds of over 5,000 people and hosted by Dubai 92’s Catboy, it offers attendees much to look forward to – traditional fair games, shopping at the Traders’ Souq, delicious food, entertainment and amazing prizes at the Terrific Tombola. A Silent Auction will also include some incredible items, from holiday packages in Porto, Portugal, to specialised medical services.

With a strong reputation for excellent community engagement, JPS acknowledges its responsibility in raising awareness and contributing towards a culture of care and positive social impact. Through its partnership with Dubai Cares, the UAE-based global philanthropic organisation, JPS will donate all raised funds to the charity’s ‘Adopt a School’ initiative. Funds raised previously have been utilised to build schools in Nepal and Malawi, as well as to support Syrian refugee children in Jordan through Dubai Cares’ Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme. Proceeds from the 2019 fair – an impressive AED 162,500 – were donated to a community school development project in Cambodia.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating a decade of fundraising through our annual Spring Fair here at Jumeirah Primary School. It has been such a privilege to have been able to single-handedly build and support four schools worldwide over the past years. This takes a whole community coming together to donate their time and money through a fun event. Our children select the schools and countries and they are extremely proud that through their efforts we are able to create something so incredibly important for others. JPS is a family that works together to support each other and other communities – it is a very special place to be,” said Rachel Higgins, Principal/CEO, GEMS Jumeirah Primary School

Firmly established as a school of high standing, JPS has forged strong partnerships and is fortunate to have the backing of prominent organisations that support its cause. Sponsors for the event include Kibsons, Emirates Holidays, Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, Adventure Parx + Café, Dream World Events, Santa Fe Relocation and Jumeirah International Nurseries.

“Kibsons is very proud to partner with GEMS Jumeirah Primary School in the ‘Adopt a School’ campaign. This is such a beautiful initiative which engages the school community to work together and promote education for underprivileged children in a meaningful and sustainable manner,” explains Halima Jumani, Founder and Director at Kibsons.

“From supporting local businesses to making healthy eating affordable, people and community are at the heart of everything we do. ‘Kibsons Cares’ is about ethical, sustainable and responsible sourcing to ensure our products are kind to the planet and safe for your family and we love giving back to the community in every way we can,” concludes Jumani.
