Dubai, UAE: The UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), under the umbrella of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, participated in the 21st Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2019). WETEX 2019 was being organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA, from 21-23 October at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

During its participation at the exhibition, Suqia showcased its key initiatives and innovative projects related to providing potable water, to assist communities suffering from water shortages and pollution. It also highlighted ways in which innovative and sustainable technologies can contribute to finding solutions to the global water crisis.

“The UAE Water Aid Foundation works according to the wise vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to help needy communities around the world who are facing challenges due to lack of natural resources. Our initiatives contribute to cementing the UAE's position in humanitarian work and supports the approach of our wise leadership to promote values of tolerance and cooperation among peoples, especially considering we are celebrating the Year of Tolerance, which is an extension of the humanitarian initiatives adopted by the wise leadership, from the last initiative which was the Year of Zayed. The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was a compass in humanitarian work. We all follow his steps, to extend a hand to all people around the world, alleviating human suffering regardless of race, nationality or religion,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UAE Water Aid Foundation.

“WETEX's objectives are in alignment with our goals to find innovative solutions to the depletion of water resources in a number of countries around the world by harnessing the potential of solar energy. The event is an important platform for the exchange of experiences with exhibitors from around the world, and to introduce participants and visitors to our efforts,” said Mohammed Abdulkareem Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of the UAE Water Aid Foundation.

“We are pleased to showcase our major innovative projects and initiatives at WETEX 2019 to inform tens of thousands of visitors about the achievements we have made in collaboration with various local and international organisations to enhance research and development, particularly those related to the production of clean and safe water by harnessing solar energy, and its storage to combat water scarcity and pollution,” added Al Shamsi.

The UAE Water Aid Foundation has implemented more than 1,000 sustainable water projects around the world, benefiting around 9 million people in 34 countries.
