PARIS/ABU DHABI, May 31 (Reuters) - Jordan's state grain buyer failed to make a purchase in a tender on Tuesday to buy 100,000 tonnes of wheat after receiving no offers, prompting the agency to issue a new tender, a government source and traders said.

It set a new bidding deadline of June 7, sources said.

Jordan has failed to make purchases in a series of tenders, with traders citing quality controls and payment terms that have reduced participation.

"The conditions are still too tough, that's why we didn't submit an offer today," one Middle East-based trader said.

Jordan did purchase 100,000 tonnes of wheat in a tender last week for October shipment, the country's first purchase since March 8. (Reporting by Valerie Parent in Paris and Maha El Dahan in Abu Dhabi, writing by Gus Trompiz, editing by Sybille de La Hamaide and David Evans)
