Pasadena, CA - Parsons is pleased to announce that Construction Week magazine has selected the Etihad Rail Stage 1 project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), as its Infrastructure Project of the Year. The project is managed by a joint venture between Parsons and AECOM, and the entry was submitted by Saipem.

Etihad Rail--the UAE's national railway network--is a 1,200‑km freight and passenger railway network that will serve the entire UAE and form part of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) rail system connecting the UAE to the other GCC countries. In addition to the Construction Week award, the project also won the Global Best Project Award of Merit from Engineering News-Record magazine in August 2015.

Commenting on the achievement, Gary Adams, Parsons MEA (Middle East & Africa) President said, "This award stands as another testimonial ofthe project's significance to the UAE's infrastructure, and the timing almost coincides with the project being granted the official license to commence commercial operations."

Parsons has been working in the MEA region for more than 60 years and has offices in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. Parsons' portfolio of ongoing projects in the MEA region includes major highways, bridges, rail and transit, airports, ports, and water infrastructure, plus hospitals, public schools, universities, mosques, and other public buildings.
