UAE Minister of Energy briefed on innovative student projects

HCT students learn about the latest digital advances in the Abu Dhabi Government

Keeping up the positive momentum for the third consecutive day, a number of VIPs visited and toured the Abu Dhabi Digital Government’s pavilion during the third day of GITEX 2017 in Dubai. VIP guests included H.E. Eng. Suhail Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy, Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, Mr. Abdullah Al Humaidan, Zayed Higher Organization’s Acting Secretary General, H.E. Saeed Al SuwaidiAbu Dhabi Distribution Company’s Managing Director, Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, and H.E. Saeed Issa Al Khaili, Acting Chief Executive Officer at ZonesCorp.

 During the visit, the guests were accompanied by Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC) Managing Director and a number of other senior executives from ADSIC, the government body in charge of the capital’s ICT agenda, and the entity hosting the Abu Dhabi government’s participation for the sixth year in a row.

During his visit, H.E. Eng. Al Mazrouei toured various sections of the Abu Dhabi Digital Government Pavilion including the ‘Innovation Oasis’, where he was briefed on a number of innovative and progressive projects created by University of Abu Dhabi and University of UAE students. The ‘Innovation Oasis’ is a new addition to the Abu Dhabi pavilion this year and aims to showcase local student innovations as well as the latest technology driven projects developed by number of leading private sector technology companies. H.E. also viewed a visual depiction of Abu Dhabi’s digital transformation journey.

In addition, a large group of students from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT Al Ain Men’s Campus)  toured the Abu Dhabi Digital Government’s pavilion to gain insights into the latest tech innovations and digital solutions that are being developed across the UAE’s capital, as part of efforts to boost smart living and become a leading digital government, driven by innovation and inspired by society.

Furthermore, the Abu Dhabi Digital Government pavilion hosting a number of students from the UAE University, Abu Dhabi University, Khalifa University and Zayed University at this year’s edition of GITEX, offering them a dynamic platform to communicate their ideas and various innovations in the field of ICT.
