Dubai: Al Faris UAE, the subsidiary of Al Faris Group, has been awarded a contract for carrying out the lifting, loading and transportation works on Route 2020, the metro extension project which is under construction for Expo 2020 Dubai.

Al Faris transported 250 metro wagons for Route 2020 to the metro line from Jebel Ali Port.

Al Faris Group’s unit used a gantry system to lift the girders due to the space restrictions “for tandem crane lift set-up and extra logistics,” according to the company’s statement.

Lifting and transportation works were implemented at night to avoid busy road traffic, the crane service provider said

“The gantry was set up using Liebherr’s 100t All-Terrain Crane and Forkliftm,” the UAE-based firm further noted.

Route 2020 is the metro extension implemented for Expo 2020 Dubai and extends 15 kilometres from Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station on Dubai Metro’s Red Line.

Route 2020 comprises 3.2 kilometres of underground track, in addition to 11.8 kilometres of elevated track, Al Faris said, giving no further detail on its contract’s value
