ArabFinance: Telecom Egypt (ETEL) has signed an agreement with Ericsson for its international gateway migration, according to a recent statement.

Under this agreement, Ericsson will migrate Telecom Egypt’s international gateway to enhance the quality of fixed and mobile services provided by Telecom Egypt, reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO), and automate Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) paving the way to new business models and enterprise services.

With the entry of Telecom Egypt into the world of Internet of Things (IoT), Ericsson will offer narrowband IoT-enabled software licenses, the statement highlighted. The project rollout is expected to start by the end of 2020 in the governorates of Cairo and Alexandria as the two main international hubs for Telecom Egypt.

Telecom Egypt has established Egypt's largest international data center facility.

Telecom Egypt is an Egypt-based joint-stock company, which is engaged in the provision of public communications and associated products and services.

The company operates under the following segments: communications, marine cables, and infrastructure; internet services, as well as outsourcing services. It offers a range of fixed-line and retail telecommunications services, as well as wholesale telecommunications services.
