UAE: The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) concluded its participation in GITEX Technology Week 2021, by honoring its strategic partners in the digital government stand, on the closing day of GITEX Technology Week 2021, which was held at the Dubai World Trade Center from 17 to 21 October with wide global participation.

During GITEX Technology Week 2021, TDRA showcased its key national projects and initiatives in the field of digital transformation, which aim to facilitate government services provision, achieve customer happiness, and enhance the whole of government approach and distinguished technology services.

H.E. Eng. Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, TDRA Director General, thanked TDRA’s partners and visitors who made this year’s DGOV stand a lively forum for those interested in the future of digital transformation in the UAE, the region and the world. He said: “Today, as we conclude our participation in GITEX Technology Week 2021, we thank our partners in government entities who embodied the spirit of one team in their quest to implement the directives of our wise leadership, to achieve a whole and integrated digital government. We also thank our partners in the private sector who have played their role and expressed their willingness to make further efforts during the coming period, in a spirit of collaboration and cooperation between the various sectors. I also thank the visitors who honored us by visiting the stand and discussing the future projects and initiatives with the exhibitors. We, in the Federal Digital Government, believe in the partnership that includes the government, the private sector and community members, which is a key to our success in achieving this progress. Today, we are ranked first in the Arab region and 8th globally in Online Services Index, first in the Arab region and 7th globally in the Telecommunication Infrastructure Index. Moreover, we are at the forefront of digital participation on the regional level.”

H.E. Al Mesmar added: “We are proud of the UAE’s great achievements and progress in adopting the latest technologies, strategies and initiatives and leveraging them in the service of all members of society. This event confirmed the UAE’s rapid recovery from the pandemic, to regain its position as a destination for creators, innovators and aspirants to participate in shaping the future of humanity.”

At the end of GITEX Technology Week, TDRA honored Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Community Development, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Ministry of Health & Prevention, Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs, General Secretariat of the Cabinet, Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center, General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, United Arab Emirates University, Federal Customs Authority, General Sport Authority, , Zakat Fund, and Emirates Post. 

The projects showcased by TDRA during GITEX 2021 represented a new set of contributions to enhancing the digital lifestyle in the UAE, and in support of the transition toward a technology based future supported by artificial intelligence and smart city, as well as the development of a mechanism for dealing with modern technologies to serve humanity and daily human life needs.

DGOV: new name, new brand, new phase

This year's edition witnessed the launch of TDRA’s Digital Government (DGOV) new brand. This launch marks the start of a new phase of government work based on joint cooperation between various government and federal entities, supported by artificial intelligence, Fourth Industrial Revolution, big data and 5G. The new brand reflects the key role of digital government within the UAE directions for the next fifty years, which include accelerating the pace of digital transformation in the UAE and creating a future based on advanced technology supported by artificial intelligence, smart cities, and a knowledge society and economy that achieve sustainable development and happiness for all.

2.2 million digital signature registrants 

TDRA highlighted the progress, figures and statistics related to UAE Pass, digital signature, digital vault, and other innovative initiatives, as it reported that the total number of individuals registered in the UAE Pass project has reached 2.2 million people so far, indicating that the number of government entities participating in the identity is 150, while the number of services affiliated to government and private entities supported by UAE Pass, has reached 7000 services.

UAE Verify

TDRA also announced the launch of a digital verification platform that allows immediate verification of your "trusted digital document." The new platform verifies the document's authenticity, integrity and validity from the official source.

API Marketplace

TDRA’s stand visitors were introduced to UAE API Marketplace, which is a Government platform that enables the UAE private sector to provide seamless services for the citizens and residents of the UAE by leveraging the UAE Government APIs. The portal enables the private sector to use the various APIs to access a range of services from across the UAE Government.

TDRA Everywhere

Through “TDRA everywhere”, TDRA took its stand’s visitors on a creative virtual journey to learn about the high readiness of the telecommunications sector in the UAE in the event of any malfunction in international cables that could result in an interruption of the Internet or communications service. The stand visitors learned about the strategic role of the telecommunications sector in crises and emergencies. The project is divided into four parts: the telecom sector saves lives, mobile telecom networks, the continuation of communications services in the event of power loss, and the global communications sector.

Digital capacity building

TDRA showcased the full journey of its Virtual Digital Academy, covering the trainee's journey from childhood to adulthood, including initiatives such as the summer camp, Betha, and the Future Digital Leader Program, all of which aim to develop the skills of the future generation and support them with essential digital skills.

ICT Fund

TDRA highlighted the funding services provided by ICT Fund to companies, institutions and individuals to enable the development of innovative and knowledge capital for the ICT sector in the UAE through applied and basic research, education and entrepreneurship.

On air

In an effort to achieve the greatest possible benefit from this global forum, TDRA broadcasted live on its stand a daily news report, prepared and presented by TDRA’s employees. The report addressed the key initiatives, events and meetings held by TDRA during GITEX Technology Week 2021.

GITEX Technology Week, which is the largest ICT exhibition in the region, provides a rich, useful and safe experience for all its visitors, and introduces them to the latest scientific findings in various technical fields.
